OTD Program Goals
By December 2025, I will graduate with my Doctorate in occupational therapy at Xavier University.
Objective 1: I will complete and pass both my level 1 placements in the schools and acute care.
Objective 2: I will complete my doctoral capstone project by the end date.
By June 2025, I will successfully finish and pass my two level II fieldwork placements in schools and acute care.
Objective 1: I will research diagnoses to increase my knowledge on patients to help me as a future clinician.
Objective 2: I will increase my confidence and skills in treating patients in both settings.
Capstone
By December 2025, I will increase my knowledge and confidence level to a 8/10 in treating patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Objective 1: I will observe different therapy sessions with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Objective 2: I will increase my confidence and skills in treating patients in both settings.
I will disseminate my capstone project both in words and verbally on December 5, 2025.
Objective 1: I will complete my capstone project at Cincinnati Children's in their Thrive Department.
Objective 2: I will create a presentation reflecting my experience and results from my capstone project with the Thrive Program.
1-Year Post Graduation
Maintain a job working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or working with older adults for 1 year.
Objective 1: Research the different aspects settings I can work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and older adults.
Objective 2: Discuss with other occupational therapists working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Within 1 year I will work towards a certification in a desired topic.
Objective 1: Research different certification options within my field of practice that are interesting and would benefit my patients.
Objective 2: Discuss with other occupational therapists working in the same field what certifications they have obtained and what it took to obtain those certifications.
5-Year Post Graduation
Accept a level I or II fieldwork student from Xavier University by August 2030.
Objective 1: Email Stacia Galey that I am willing to accept fieldwork student.
Objective 2: Discuss with other occupational therapists that have had fieldwork students to prepare for my own student.
By December 2030, I will obtain and maintain a specialized certification chosen at the one year mark post graduation.
Objective 1: I will complete CUEs that help maintain and increase my knowledge on the topic.
Objective 2: Discuss with other occupational therapists that have had fieldwork students to prepare for my own student.
Personal Interests

Acute Care working with patients with a variety of diagnoses such as TBI, CVA, SCI, orthopedic conditions, and neurodegenerative conditions.

Adolescents and youth with developmental disabilities in a school setting or hospital-based setting.
